Obituary

Jay Guy Gullic was born on November 19th, 1966 to Guy and Janice Gullic in Oklahoma City, OK.  Jay passed from this life on June 12, 2024 at OU medical center in Oklahoma City at the age of 57 years and 6 months.

Jay graduated from High School at Wichita North in Wichita, KS. During his school years he participated in Ag, baseball, basketball and Wrestling. Jay’s true joy in life came when he spent time with his grandparents on the ranch near Leedey, OK. During this time he learned the lay of the land, cattle and horses. Jay rode broncs for a short period and enjoyed the thrill of the bucking horses. Jay had a palomino horse he adored; Nugget was his go to when he needed to get things done. Jay often helped with the horses on the ranch and worked with many of them. His number one companion came in the form of man’s best friend, Suz, his dog. Wherever Jay went he had Suz with him.

Jay enjoyed the outdoors; fishing and hunting were at the top of his list. He spent many hours at the family pond with his children fishing. He always enjoyed games, particularly card games. He taught his children how to play many different card games over the years. Jay was also known for his country western dance skills. Often times at dances, he was sought out for his talents on the dance floor. His easy gate made dancing fun and most anyone could follow his lead.

Jay worked various jobs through life, but carpentry was a skill he enjoyed and began working in construction in 1993. Jay moved to Tulsa, OK in 1995 and continued his carpentry skills there. He went to work for a builder in Tulsa and eventually became the site manager for the many job sites going on at the same time. Jay’s particular skills showed when completing the finish work on cabinets and details in woodworking.

Jay later moved back to Leedey and took odd jobs while helping his mother with the ranch.

Jay was blessed with four children in his life. Kalyn Jay, born November 6th, 1986; followed by Dalton Jay on November 1st, 1992. Several years later he was blessed with two more children, Jayna Gean born on May 2nd, 2002, and Teagen Nicholas born on June 1st, 2005. The children have many memories of fishing at the pond with their dad.

Jay was preceded in death by his grandparents Hugh and Clystia Harrel, Irene and Herb Gullic, his father Guy Gullic, Aunt and Uncle Karen and G.W. Harrel, Uncle Terry Nichols, and Cousin Jason Harrel.

Jay is survived by his mother Janice Harrel of Elk City, children; Kalyn Schulze of Mason City, IA; Dalton Gullic of Wichita, KS,  Jayna Gullic of Alva, OK and Teagen Gullic of Butler, OK; Six grandchildren; Trenton and Hailey Schulze, Lorelai, Morticia, Silas and Daisy Gullic; Brothers, Gary Gullic and wife Meredith of Tulsa, OK, Hugh and wife Heather of Wichita, KS; Aunt,  Doneta Nichols of Elk City, Uncle & Aunt Jay and wife Beth of Shidler, OK; and his special friend Cindy Wyatt along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The Memorial for Jay Guy Gullic is held at the family ranch in Leedey, Oklahoma on June 29th, 2024. Mark Haney, the local pastor and family friend, will be leading the service. Family and friends will also be sharing memories about the deceased.
