James Ronald McVay, born January 13, 1969, in Los Angeles, California, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas.

The son of Ronald and Dorthy McVay, James spent most of his life in Southern California before retiring to San Antonio, Texas. He was a recovering addict of 16 years, a testament to his strength, perseverance, and courage in facing life’s challenges. Those who knew him remember his quiet determination, resilience, and the small ways he touched the lives of others.

He is survived by his daughters, Ashley McVay and Alexandra (McVay) Wood, and his grandchildren, Kieran, Kylo, and Penelope. He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald McVay (2015), his mother, Dorthy McVay (2020), and his sisters, Anne McVay (2022) and Lisa McVay (2023).

A service to honor James’s life will be held Sunday, December 28, 2025. Those who wish to attend are warmly welcome to join in remembering his life and legacy.
