James Lee Swanson, affectionately known as Jimmy, passed away on May 8, 2024, at the age of 63. He was born on August 16, 1960, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Betty (Thorson) and Kenneth Swanson.

James attended South Hamilton High School and later graduated from Omaha North. He had a deep love for his favorite sports teams, the Green Bay Packers and the Nebraska Cornhuskers. James also enjoyed spending time fishing, watching John Wayne movies, and sipping on Jim Beam bourbon. His favorite place in the world was Jamaica, where he cherished the sun, sand, and beautiful scenery.

When it came to television, James was a devoted fan of Gunsmoke. He found great enjoyment in immersing himself in the Wild West adventures of Marshal Matt Dillon.

James leaves behind cherished memories with his beloved wife, Donna. Together, they created a life filled with love and companionship. He is also survived by his parents, Betty and Kenneth, along with his siblings Mark Swanson of Story City, Robert Swanson of Ankeny, and Kristi (Randy) Hetland of Story City. James was a loving father to his children Haley (Megan) Powers and Jennifer Zerr, and a doting grandfather to Dakota, Elijah, and Maliyah Zerr of Story City.

James will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. His warm presence and infectious laughter will forever be remembered. May he rest in peace.
