James Lee Everett, known affectionately as “Free,” passed away on September 30, 2024, at the age of 81. Born on March 11, 1943, in Miami, FL, James dedicated his life to his family and his passions, most notably his love for music and the open road.
A proud alumnus of Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, James established a successful career in the trucking industry, where he was respected for his work ethic and dedication. He cherished the freedom of the road, often expressing that it was his favorite place in the world.
James had a deep love for his family, which he built and nurtured throughout his life. He was known for his hilarious nature, always bringing positivity and care to those around him. His beloved saxophone was more than just an instrument to him; it was a source of joy and expression. He often shared his favorite motto, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” reflecting his straightforward and pragmatic approach to life.
James will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and the strong bonds he forged with his loved ones. His legacy lives on through the family he adored and the countless lives he touched.
