James was an avid hunter and fisherman; he loved gardening and anything that involved being outdoors. He was a family man, always putting his family first. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Burns worked for Inland Container. He was a loving father, grandfather, and brother, he will be missed by all.

Mr. James Lamar Burns, age 73, of Armuchee, GA, passed away on Thursday , April 4, 2024 at a local hospital. Mr. Burns was born in Rome, GA on November 2, 1950, son of the late Buren Burns, and the late Charlotte Nix Burns. In addition to his parents, Mr. Burns was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Lee Burns. Mr. Burns is survived by his daughters, Robin Ray (Ernest), and April Smith (Justin); his grandchildren, Tristen Thompson, Bailey Thompson, Brandon Thompson, Josie Smith, and Jedidiah Smith; his brother, David Burns (Becky); his sisters, Karen Law, and Wanda Shelly (Ricky); several nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday , April 14, 2024, at 4:00 pm, in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, with Pastor Joe Hayes officiating.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, on Sunday from 3:00pm until the hour of service.
