James Eugene Barnes, lovingly known as Papa or Daddy, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2024, at the age of 72. Born on April 7, 1952, in Newport News, VA, he was a beloved member of the community.

Throughout his life, James resided in Newport News, VA, where he formed deep connections with family, friends, and neighbors. He will always be remembered for his warm smile, kind heart, and unwavering love for his family.

James was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was the pillar of strength and guidance for his loved ones and leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion. His caring nature extended beyond his family, and he touched the lives of many through his generosity and willingness to lend a helping hand.

In his free time, James enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He was often found tending to his garden, indulging in his favorite books, or engaging in conversations that left a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to have known him.
