James E. Furgason, born on August 6, 1937, in Indianapolis, IN, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2024, in Bakersfield, CA, just four days after celebrating his 87th birthday. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and friend, cherished by all who knew him.

James had a passion for carpentry and was a licensed pilot who loved building planes. He enjoyed cooking and found great joy in fishing on Lake Mary with his beloved wife, Loretta, who preceded him in death. Their partnership was a beautiful journey that began in Bakersfield, CA, where they met and married.

Throughout his life, James was a proud member of IBEW Local 428 for 50 years. After a brief period in a family business in Santa Maria, CA, he returned to Bakersfield, where he dedicated himself to both his work and family. Following his retirement, James embraced his love for aviation, joining EAA and taking memorable trips, including flying to Oshkosh, WI, with Loretta, as well as vacations to Hawaii.

Tragedy struck when Loretta suffered a massive stroke, altering the path of their lives. For nearly 20 years, James devotedly cared for her until her passing. Sadly, in later years, he battled vascular dementia.

James is survived by his sister Helen , loving daughter, Ronda, and her husband Bruce, his son Jason and his wife Lynn, along with nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Dorothy Furgason, his sister Joyce, his wife Loretta E. Love, and son John E.

James's life was a testament to love, dedication, and resilience. As his family bids him farewell, they hold onto the memories of a loving father and a remarkable man. Goodbye, Dad. Until we meet again. Love, Ronda-Donda, and Jas.
