James Lee Collins (Guy) was born in West Point, Mississippi on August 22, 1961 to the union of Mary and Tom Collins (whom both preceeded him in death). Within this union, four siblings, Tommie, Fannie, Willie, and L.C Collins all preceeded him in death. He later moved following his mother and siblings to Chicago, Illinois.

James attended Leaf Ericson Elementary School and Manley Career Academy High School on the Westside of Chicago. He picked up trades along the way for dreams of becoming an entrepreneur someday. Along with those trades, he worked several jobs in his youth including his mother's restaurant until her health failed.

James was a family man, very compassionate, had a great sense of humor and always the life of the party. He had children all of whom he loved very dearly. His model for them was "We have to stick together."

James was very compassionate in his love for Christ. He furthered that commitment in 2005 by regularly attending services held at the Family Worship Center.

James took his final breath to sunset on July 11, 2024.

James (Guy) life will forever be cherished in the memories of his children: Joseph James Young (Nashvile, Tenn) Ryshonda Fields (Columbus OH), Lahonest Love, Lazeria Harris (DaJuan), Quby Liberty of Chicago IL. His seven sisters: Mary Collins, Rosie Collins, Lillie Jenkins (Jerome), Annie Byars-Posey (Marvin), Harriett Holmes, Shelia Holmes, Debra Holmes of Chicago I. His eight brothers: Archie Collins, Michael Collins, Fredrick Collins (Shawnta Lacey-Collins), Jimmy Collins (Bianca), Danny Collins, Dennis Collins (Melissa), Lance Collins (TurKesha), Robert Hampton. His lovely grandchildren & great grandchildren and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives & friends.
