James Arthur Carmichael Sr., born on May 20, 1954, in Mullins, South Carolina, passed away on September 22, 2024, in Martinsville, Virginia. A devoted family man, James was cherished by his beloved wife, Sherri McGregor Carmichael, and he found immense joy in the company of his children and grandchildren.
James is survived by three sisters and three brothers, along with a host of nieces and nephews who will remember his warm spirit and loving nature. He was a passionate fisherman and loved spending time with his family, making unforgettable memories that will be cherished by all who knew him.
James was a proud father to Junneka Bethune, Chitarra Williams (Tony Williams), Pantazia Carmichael, James Carmichael Jr. (Latoya Jackson/Samira Zavala), James Carmichael III (Akera McMillan), and Demonte White (Patrice Johnson). He is also survived by a large and loving brood of grandchildren, including Jah'Mony Lewis, Arie Powell, Tyleek Summers, and many others who brought him immense joy and pride.
In addition to his role as a loving family member, James was actively involved in his community through Walking Man Ministries, where he made meaningful contributions to those around him.
James Arthur Carmichael Sr. will be deeply missed but will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will always remember his kindness, humor, and love for his family.
