Irene Weeks, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on July 24, 2024, at the age of 101. She was born on May 10, 1923, in Kansas City, MO, and resided in Victorville, CA, at the time of her passing.
Irene led a remarkable life filled with resilience and determination. At the young age of 12, she left school to support her family by working in the potato fields. She later worked on planes for the military during her early adult life. Irene married Leonard and together they had four children. Tragically, they lost their son Donald at the tender age of nine months and Robert in 2022. Debra and Richard survive her. Although Irene and Leonard divorced after 37 years of marriage, they remained close friends throughout the years.
In the early 70s, Irene obtained her driver's license and earned her high school diploma through night school. She then embarked on a 33-year career as a Dietary Technician at Torrance Memorial Medical Center. Irene was deeply committed to her family, always offering her unwavering support and care. Her children's closest friends affectionately referred to her as "Mom."
Irene found solace in her faith and turned to it during challenging times. Her Christian beliefs were a guiding force, and she found comfort in reading her Bible. Irene's kind and caring nature endeared her to all who knew her. She cherished her family above all else and found joy in spending time with them. Irene loved her houseplants, dedicating time and care to tending to them.
Las Vegas held a special place in Irene's heart as her favorite destination in the world. She enjoyed the excitement and the slot machines. Irene was sometimes known as "Ree" when she was younger. Irene was adored by her seven grandchildren and those of her fourteen great-grandchildren she got to meet. Unfortunately she never got a chance to meet her four great-great-grandchildren. She loved every single one of them whether she met them or not.
She is also survived by her sister, Betty Pawlack. Irene's legacy of kindness, compassion, and faith will be remembered fondly by all who knew her. Her family takes solace in the fact that she can finally find the rest she deserves. Irene Weeks will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those she loved.
We'll plant real trees for you in Irene's memory and display your contribution forever.
