Ilaria Sapphire Nunez, 7 months old passed Away peacefully in her parents Dianna + Hugo Nunez arms on August 18th 2024, at Boston children’s hospital. Ilaria was born at Brigham and women’s hospital on December 28th 2023 with a heart defect that led to a pulmonary vein disease. Yet throughout her short life she brought many smiles and joy to many people around her.

Despite the challenges she faced and the pain she went through, she always managed to have a smile on her face. She went through 5 open heart surgeries and after each one she pulled through strong making her parents proud.

Ilaria had a special bond with her mother. Dianna was always by Ilarias side giving her all the attention and love she needed especially on a bad day. Ilaria spent her days in her mother’s lap either reading her favorite books or watching Moana. Whenever it was time for Ilaria to receive an IV the song You’re Welcome would get her through it.

To those who knew her, Ilaria was known by her nicknames of Tinkerbell, diaper diva, spicy or sassy girl. She might have always been happy but she had quite the attitude when it came to activities she did not enjoy.

Her favorite moments were her stroller walks in the hallway seeing her friends and watching Moana on repeat. Especially when it came to cuddles with her mama.

Ilaria is survived by her loving parents, her 3 sisters Abby Deschaine, Anastasia Gilbert, and Harmony Thomas. Also 1 brother Marcellus Thomas.
