Hubert “Hubie” Wallace McCarter, 81, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2024. A devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Hubert will be remembered for his hardworking nature, love of family, and lifelong passions. Born on January 18, 1943, to Carson and Ollie McCarter, Hubert had a deep appreciation for cars and engines. He enjoyed building and racing cars, often spending hours perfecting his work under the hood. He also had a love for music and found joy in playing alongside friends. Traveling and sightseeing with his family brought him great happiness, as he valued time spent exploring and making memories together. Hubert is preceded in death by his wife, June McCarter; his parents, Carson and Ollie McCarter; his brothers, Albert and Floyd McCarter; his sisters, Louise Sharpe and Patsy Wilt; and his grandson, Isaac Russell. He is survived by his three children, Heather Quillen (Ash Quillen), Travis McCarter (Alicia McCarter), and Holly McCarter; his ten grandchildren, Brian Falls, Madison Falls, Lainie Russell, Carson Falls, Molly McCarter, Jonathan Snipes, Paisley McCarter, Ian Quillen, and Georgia-Lee McCarter; and his great-granddaughter, Scarlett Buchanan. Hubert’s life was one of simple joys and meaningful connections. He will be missed deeply by all who knew him. A graveside service to honor Hubert’s life will be held this Saturday, January 4th, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Woodside Cemetery in Clover, South Carolina.
