His favorite hobbies included watching the races on the weekend, spending time with family, bowling, fishing, and traveling with his wife. He also enjoyed football, baseball, and was an avid collector of oil & gas memorabilia.
Dad was a food lover and a man’s man. He was a meat and potatoes guy all the way. And the meat better still be mooing.

He worked the pit crew with his Father and StepFather in the Winston cup series in his younger years.

NASCAR racing, football, baseball
At the age of 26 Mike began his Career as a Journeyman Plumber & Steamfitter with the local #43 and literally worked up until he couldn’t. He fabricated mufflers, street rods and rat rods with Fred Cooke. In September of 2024 he was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. He gallantly and bravely fought for the last year before God took him home.
His wife Kate Lerch, his children Adam Lerch, Amanda Finley, Alecia Marsh, his step children Debbie LeRoy, Kim & Mark Eller, LeeAnn Mulkey, Jerry Lewis Jr, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
By first wife Pamela Lynn Lerch, his Mother and StepFather Joyce and Fred Cooke, and his Father Kenneth Lerch.
