Holly's life was taken by cancer
Holly Diann Bates, born on December 25, 1965, in Rusk, Texas, was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend. She recently resided in Pittsburg, Texas, where she made a lasting impact on those she encountered. Holly's life revolved around her six grandchildren, whom she adored and cherished as Nana.
Born to Kathy Morris-McKnight and Doil McKnight, Holly grew up alongside her sister Beverly McKnight. She attended Cushing High School, where she gained a solid foundation for her future endeavors.
Holly dedicated over 20 years of her life to trucking dispatch before relocating and finding fulfillment in helping others at the Safe-T Crisis Center. She later worked in dispatch again until she discovered a sense of family at Wood County Co Op.
Holly's proudest accomplishments and contributions were undoubtedly her grandchildren, Karsyn Applewhite (11), Rosalyn (10), Brantley (8), Emmalyn (5), Graclyn (4) Wisinger, and Brylee Bates (8 months). Their happiness brought her immense joy and fulfillment.
She leaves behind her husband, Mark Bates, with whom she shared a beautiful life. Holly is also survived by her mother, Kathy McKnight, sister Beverly McKnight, nephew Kory Turner, great niece Hannah Turner, and numerous aunts and uncles.
Holly will be remembered for her selfless and sweet nature, always putting a smile on the faces of those she met. She had a kind heart and a generous spirit that touched the lives of many. Before moving to Pittsburg, Holly enjoyed teaching Sunday School and Wednesday night classes for the youth at West Main Baptist Church in Henderson, Texas.
A member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Pittsburg, Texas, Holly found solace and strength in her religious beliefs. Her love for others and her unwavering kindness will be greatly missed but forever cherished.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Safe-T Crisis Center, as Holly was dedicated to helping others and supporting the community she held dear.
