Helen Marquez, affectionately known as "Momma," passed away on January 6, 2025, in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, at the age of 71. Born on November 28, 1953, in Phoenix, Arizona to her parents Connie and Tony Jimenez. Helen lived a life filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering dedication to her family and friends.
Helen was known for her creative spirit, spending countless hours crocheting and solving puzzles. Her love for life was evident in her favorite meals, particularly tacos and making tortillas, which she enjoyed sharing with those she cared for. A fan of the "oldies but goodies," she often filled her home with the sounds of her favorite bands, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for all to dance.
Throughout her career, Helen was a beloved employee at Dunkin’ Donuts and the Chuckwagon, earning a reputation as a "Jill of all trades." Her commitment to her work was matched only by her passion for taking care of everyone around her. Helen lived by the motto, "No matter what life throws at you, family is all you need," and she exemplified this belief through her actions.
Helen is survived by her close family, Diane Varela, Antonio Marquez, Melonienfu, Becky Salazar, Gloria Marquez, Brian Martinez, Mary Daugherty, Joseph Daugherty, Joanna Peña including her cherished sisters, Angie Herrera, DD Contreras and brother Ponky Andrade, who carries on her legacy of kindness and caring for others. She will be remembered for the positive impact she had on the lives of those who knew her, always giving of herself regardless of her own circumstances. Especially her grandchildren: Destinni Torres, Chris Torres, Anthony Marquez, Ashley Marquez, Michael Varela, Frankie Salazar, Tearsa Coronado, Anaysa Coronado, Joseph Daugherty, Bryanna Daugherty, Jacob Daugherty, Jarrod Martinez, Haylie Marquez, Elijah Martinez, Alyssa Martinez!
Helen found joy in the simple things, with the ocean being her favorite place in the world, where she could find peace and solace. Her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends, who will miss her warmth, generosity, and unwavering love.
