Hazel Mae Jackson, lovingly known as Sista, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2024, at the age of 76. She was born on July 22, 1948, in Nashville, TN, and most recently resided in Port Hueneme, CA.
Hazel had a remarkable zest for life and found joy in helping others, completing word searches, sharing scriptures, and listening to her favorite music. She was a dedicated mother to her daughters Monique Eckwood and DeShawna (Shawna) Jackson-Tobin, who she loved dearly. Hazel's grandchildren Dante Jackson, LaTrice Sharp, Quedell Miles, Tyri Johnson (Madison Johnson), and Kenyon Tobin, Jr. were her pride and joy. She also adored her great-grandchildren Aniyah Terrance, Carter Johnson, Skylar Johnson, and Tyson Johnson.
Hazel's siblings, Ike Taylor (Junior), Deborah Stewart, Joyce Moody, and Bruce Taylor, shared a special bond with her. Hazel leaves behind cherished memories for her loved ones to hold onto.
Professionally, Hazel had a successful career in administration. However, her proudest accomplishments and contributions were her children and her unwavering dedication to helping others.
Hazel and her boyfriend Kenneth Bivens (Kenny) shared many beautiful memories together. Hazel's faith was an essential part of her life, and she was an active member of Evangelistic Missionary Baptist Church.
Hazel Mae Jackson will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to have known her. Her kindness, love, and unwavering faith will forever be remembered.
As her loved ones mourn her passing, they find comfort in knowing that Hazel is now reunited with her parents Ike and Clara Taylor and her sister Linda Taylor. May she rest in eternal peace, knowing that her legacy of love and compassion lives on.
