Hazel Joyce Houston, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on August 7, 2024, at the age of 74. Born on June 23, 1950, in Lancaster, PA, Hazel most recently resided in Holyoke, MA.
Hazel was a beacon of positivity, always finding the silver lining in every situation. Her infectious laughter and unwavering spirit inspired everyone around her to embrace life with joy. Unapologetically herself, she celebrated her uniqueness and encouraged others to do the same. Her ability to see the brighter side of things made her a cherished presence in our lives, reminding us that happiness is a choice we can all make.
Hawaii held a special place in Hazel's heart, and she often spoke of the beauty and tranquility she found there. She loved indulging in everything seafood and enjoyed watching her favorite TV show, "Young and the Restless."
As a homemaker, Hazel poured her heart into creating a loving and nurturing home for her family. Her favorite quote, "Live life to the fullest & never apologize for your happiness," encapsulated her zest for life.
Hazel's husband, Jerry, predeceased her, but their love remained a guiding force in her life. They are now reunited, together for eternity. Hazel is survived by her son Jerome, her devoted daughter-in-law and caregiver, Kimberly Houston, her loving cousin Terry Houston, and a host of grandchildren who cherished her deeply.
Jerome Terry Fitzpatrick, though not biologically related to Hazel, held a special place in her heart. She embraced him as her own, showering him with love and support. Their bond was strong, and Hazel's unwavering belief in the power of love made him feel like a true part of the family.
Hazel will be remembered for her warmth, love, and nurturing nature. Her wisdom, gained through her rich life experiences, was cherished by all who knew her. Her infectious laughter and creative storytelling left a lasting impression. She impacted the lives of many, teaching the value of love, kindness, and the importance of embracing one's true self.
A sunny afternoon at Nana Hazel's house, filled with the aroma of her freshly baked cookies and her joyful storytelling, will forever be etched in the memories of those who loved her.
Hazel's legacy of love and positivity lives on through her family, who will continue to carry her spirit in their hearts. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. May she rest in eternal peace.
We invite family and friends to gather in loving memory of our beloved grandmother. The wake will take place in Lancaster, PA. As we honor her wishes for cremation , we would still love for everyone to come and Join us to share stories, celebrate her life, and support one another during this difficult time. Your presence would mean a lot to us as we remember the joy she brought into our lives.
