Harriet Jean (Ewald) Alexander, born on May 15, 1936, in Detroit, MI, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2024, in Ann Arbor, MI. Harriet was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, known for her unwavering love and devotion to her family. She was married in 1957 and together they had 4 children.
Harriet enjoyed watching Westerns and Action movies on television, often spending her evenings immersed in her favorite shows or working on her Word Search book. She also had a passion for gardening, finding joy in nurturing plants and flowers. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the pride and joy of her life.
She retired from ProQuest in 2005 where she made valuable contributions throughout her career. Harriet's proudest accomplishments were her children: William Alexander (Jane) of Milan, Kimberly Alexander (Brad) of Ann Arbor, Tamara DeCosta (Matt) of Ann Arbor, and Timothy Alexander of Ann Arbor. She also cherished her grandchildren, Kenneth Kuehn, Matthew Alexander, Kristopher Kuehn, Nicholas Alexander, Ariane Gibbons, Valentino Argiero, Marissa O’Neill, Antonio Argiero, Miranda Argiero, and Emily Burton, along with 13 great-grandchildren. Harriet also enjoyed the many visits she had with her nephew Gary Harvey and his wife Mary.
Harriet was predeceased by her parents Harold & Jean Ewald and her sister Gloria Richards.
A devoted fan of UofM football, Harriet's spirit and warmth will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Her legacy of love and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.
