Harold Andrew De Lay, aged 73, passed away on September 1, 2024, in Bakersfield, CA. Born on May 15, 1951, Harold dedicated 24 years of service to Bakersfield College as the head of Custodial Management before his retirement.

Harold proudly served in the Navy from 1969 to 1971, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to his country during a pivotal time in history. He was a graduate of Rodney B Wilson High School in Saint John's, Michigan.

Harold leaves behind a loving family, including his wife of 52 years, Esperanza (Hope) Alcaraz De Lay; his daughter, Nicole De Lay-Hyatt and son-in-law Victor Hyatt; daughter, Candace Marie De Lay Hart and son-in-law Brandon Hart; son, Matthew Ryan De Lay; brother, Dennis and sister-in-law Cindy De Lay; sister, Kathleen and brother-in-law Frank Whitener; sister, Jolene and brother-in-law Gregory Strausbaugh; and brother Steven and sister-in-law Lori De Lay. He was a cherished grandfather to Kaitlyn, Tanner, Aeryn, Jackson, Emelie, and Felix, and a great-grandfather to Madisonn, Aria, and Juniper. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall Elvens De Lay and Barbara Jean Dennis De Lay, and his great-grandson, Aiden Pierce Mourtrey.

Harold will be remembered for his dedication to his family and his service to both his country and community. His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched. Memorial service will be held at New Covenant Church 800 Airport Dr Bakersfield California 93308 on November 16th @ 11am, reception to follow, if you would like to send flowers you can have them delivered to New Covenant Church; Internment @ Bakersfield National Cemetery November 18th @10:45am .
