He was truly a remarkable person with a heart of gold. A devoted husband, loving father, son and brother, he put family at the center of his life and would do anything to support them. His genuine nature made him joy to be around - always telling a story of a past life event. His kindness shone through in every action. He was known for his hard work and dedication. He approached everything he did with a strong sense of responsibility and care. He brought warmth and light to those around him, always willing to lend a hand or listen, making him a treasured part of everyone’s lives.

Gregory Allen Stevens, born on February 2, 1963, in Ashland, KY, passed away on October 29, 2024, in Sandy Hook, KY. He was a remarkable individual known for his heart of gold and deep commitment to family. Greg was a devoted husband to his late wife, Sherri Simmons Stevens, and a loving father to their three sons: Maynard Allen, Vincent Lee, and Waylon Tyler Stevens.
Throughout his life, Greg exemplified kindness and generosity. He was a dedicated carpenter affiliated with Local Union 472, serving as an Executive Board Member from June 1991 to February 2018. His work ethic and sense of responsibility were evident in all he did, and he approached every task with care and dedication.
Greg found joy in spending time with family and was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. He volunteered at the Elliott County Christian Community Center, where he helped pack and distribute food to families facing hardship. His ability to tell captivating stories and bring warmth to conversations made him a cherished presence in the lives of many.
He is survived by his father, Leroy Stevens (Ruth Ann) of Sandy Hook; his sister, Trisha Carroll (Tom) of Grayson; and his brother, Anthony Stevens (Lucille) of Sandy Hook. Greg also leaves behind sister-in-laws Ruth Simmons, Ruby Kelly (David), Ella Knipp, Donna Gilliam (Jesse) and Jennifer Gilliam (James), a brother-in-law David (Jonya) Simmons and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins who adored him.
Greg was also preceded in death by his mother, Della Boggs Stevens; sister-in-law, Jeanette Flannery; and brothers-in-law, Elwood Flannery and James Knipp.
In honor of Greg’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. His ashes will be spread at the Stevens and Simmons cemeteries, with a family celebration of life to be held at a later date. Greg’s unwavering support and kindness have left an unforgettable mark on the lives of so many, making a true difference in their world. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
