Obituario

Glenn Golman Barnes, affectionately known as Sonny, passed away on August 4, 2024, at the age of 88. He was born on April 29, 1936, in Frederick, Oklahoma. Glenn spent the majority of his life in Abilene, Texas.

Glenn had a diverse and successful career as an accountant, real estate broker, and master builder. His passion and talent for building homes led him to become a master home builder in the field of Green construction. He took great pride in his work and his contributions to the industry.

Glenn was married to Kay Barnes for 41 years, and they shared a beautiful partnership. Together, they raised five children: Kelly Cawyer, Whitney Van Hoose, Kendall Barnes, Tammy Powell, and Tanja Haag. His legacy lives on through his nine grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Glenn impacted the lives of his family and friends by striving to be a good Christian example. He was a dedicated member of the Brook Hollow Christian Church, where he served as an elder. Additionally, Glenn was actively involved in the Abilene community, serving on the Abilene Board of Realtors and the Taylor County Appraisal Review Board. He also held leadership positions such as President of the WCT Petroleum Accounting Association.

Glenn will be fondly remembered for his love of family, his dedication to his work, and his commitment to serving others. He leaves behind a lasting legacy of professionalism, integrity, and faith. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Glenn is survived by his loving wife, Kay Barnes, his sister Virginia Woods, his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of those whose lives he touched.
