Gerhart (Gert) Brabandt, born on June 18, 1934, in Edmonton, AB, Canada, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2024, in his beloved hometown. A devoted husband to Rose Brabandt, Gert cherished the companionship they shared throughout their marriage. He was a proud father to his daughter Cindy and son Gary, and a doting grandfather to six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Gert was deeply involved in his community, notably spearheading the Ringette program for the Alberta Avenue Community League, a contribution that showcased his passion for youth sports and community engagement. Known for his skills as a handyman, he spent endless hours in the garage he built, working on various projects that reflected his creativity and resourcefulness.
A lover of the great outdoors, Gert found joy in traveling through the mountains and spending time in his backyard. He had a fondness for German sausages and grilled steak, and often enjoyed listening to his favorite golden oldies while sharing stories with family and friends, always embodying his motto, "The older the fiddle the sweeter the tune."
