Gerard enjoyed a life of adventure with hikes, road trips, bonfires with family and friends and keeping track of his beloved Boston Red Sox. He also loved keeping track of his grandkids, sharing in their successes and sharing videos.

Favorite bands and musical artists
There was no music that Gerard didn't love! His top favorite was the classic rock of the 70's and 80's and he passed his love of guitars, drums, music and concerts onto his daughters. His love for lip-syncing and karaoke was enjoyed by all and shared with his daughters.
Interesting facts about Gerard
He served his country as a member of the United States Air Force for 10 years. Getting to travel the world and live abroad were some of his most cherished memories. Egypt and Germany were the two most prominent places where he cherished many memories of his travels. He made lifelong friends during his time in the USAF that he still kept in touch with.
Gerard loved nothing more than
His family. His door was always open and he knew no stranger. He was the absolute best at keeping in touch with others through a phone call, text or a random video message. He always talked of having a guest book at the front door for all who passed through the door to sign. He welcomed all and always wanted to remember them.

Gerard's superpower
No matter what life handed him he continued forward with a smile on his face and love in his heart. He never gave up. He was optimistically positive with every outlook on one's life. He remembered numbers and facts with astounding clarity; all we had to do was ask the date of any event and Gerard was was able to provide full detail.
Favorite sports
Gerard LOVED his Boston Red Sox and was a lifelong fan! He was a wiz at remembering all sorts of facts, dates and sports figures.
Obituario
Gerard leaves behind his beloved wife Maria McKew (Phoenix), daughters Kerri McKew (Charlotte), Heather Erickson (Blaine), Allison Moore (Charlotte); grandchildren, Angelina Erickson, Kaitlyn Brown, Gage Erickson, Cara Brown, and Mark Erickson; and siblings Brian Mckew, Kathy McKew, Johnny Mckew, Nanci Costa and Dorothy Puccia.
Gerard was preceded in death by John A McKew (Father), Dorothy Joan McKeon (mother), Harry McKeon (stepfather), and Lillian McKew (Grandmother).
There was never a week that did not pass without him reaching out to a family member or friend. He never forgot a birthday, anniversary or game. He always cared and made a point to check-in and stay in touch. He knew how to have fun and could get everyone laughing. He could easily commemorate a game or event and found joy in it. He enjoyed recording events whether on video, by writing or just remembering . We believe he did this as a gift-to keep sharing the laughter and the memories.
He would not want tears of sadness; rather tears of laughter as there was rarely a time that you didn't find him with a smile on his face. He loved with his whole heart and when "G" was around you KNEW love was in the room.
Gerard met Marie in Phoenix while they were working and their friendship blossomed into a true romance; their love for each other was like no other. Marie doted on Gerard and Gerard cherished Marie. They were together through Gerard's final moments.
Gerard will have a private mass St. Jerome Catholic Church in Phoenix on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at 11:00am.
Friday June 28, 2024 at Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix, Gerard's cremains will be laid to rest.
