Her early years were spent attending Katherine B. Richardson Elementary, Longfellow Elementary, Wendell Phillips Middle School, and Lincoln High School. Geraldine embraced her faith later in life, dedicating herself to the teachings of Jesus with unwavering devotion until her final moments.
Geraldine loved her family and talks about them every time she gets a chance. She was so generous to her nieces and nephews whenever she would come around.
Geraldine was a beacon of generosity and compassion, always willing to lend a hand. She delighted in helping others, often giving her last to those in need. Her commitment to her community was evident through her volunteer work with feeding the homeless and her heartfelt interactions with strangers and loved ones alike.
A longtime member of Second Missionary Baptist Church, Geraldine walked to services despite lung challenges. She later found a spiritual home at Consuming Fire Ministries, where she continued to worship until her passing. Even in her hospital stays, Geraldine's faith shone brightly as she shared the message of Jesus with her caregivers.
In her leisure time, Geraldine enjoyed exercising when possible and engaging in games like dominoes and dice. Her quiet demeanor was softened by her ever-present smile, which spoke volumes about her gentle nature. Over the years, she became increasingly soft-spoken, but her love and warmth remained unmistakable.
Geraldine is survived by her loving siblings: Brother Robert Burns; Sisters Debbie, and Brothers Henry, Mark, and Ray Harrell. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice Harrell and Delorie Burns; her grandparents, John Burns and Bertha Burns; and her special friend, Tommy Biggs.
