Mr. George W. Tilley was born in Pittsburgh,Pa. on December 30 1936. George was the only child of the late Francis and Iola Dixon Tilley. George was a graduate of Fifth Avenue Archers,and was an avid athlete in football and track. George was affectionately known as Dad, Papa G and GT. George was married to Virginia Jefferson on July 1 1955. They were the parents of 3 children Denise Tilley, Tina Tilley Mollett and George F. Tilley and the late Virginia Tilley. In George's dynamic life he met the late Joyce Underwood and was the step father to Tori Stevenson, Wendy Hall and the late Robert Gulliam. George then engaged in a relationship with the late Jacqueline McGee and was a step father to Dondra, Marci and Cory Jones. George enjoyed a full life and is survived by a host of grand , great grandchildren. Nices and nephews as well as loving friends.
Throughout George's life he enjoyed the sweet melody of jazz, R&B and blues. His favorite pastime was watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates. He even attended the Rose Bowl with Pittsburgh and Los Angeles and he would say we won because he was there. George had a four decade career with LTV Steel Corporations. He retired and worked part-time for the Pittsburgh Pirates so he could see all the home games.
George was truly the life of any party, he loved to dance enjoy a great meal and be with the family. George's steel mill family would meet often at the PPG and Market Square for coffee to keep up the Pittsburgh goings on. We will miss his smiles and love
Thanks be to God ,George enjoyed his life to the fullest as we all must do tomorrow is not promised to anyone. The Lord has bought his angel home to rest. The family thanks you for sharing this moment with us.
