George Hancock, born September 21, 1957, passed away on July 21, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of service, devotion, and quiet strength. A proud veteran, George began his life of service in the United States military, where he demonstrated the discipline, courage, and integrity that would define his entire life. After completing his military service, he continued his commitment to protecting others as a New York City police officer, serving his community with honor and dedication.
George was preceded in death by Nakia Hancock, and his memory now lives on through the family he cherished deeply. He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Fitzgerald; his sons, Ty Fitzgerald and Terry Galloway; and his treasured grandchildren, Tiana Tatum, Kiana Tatum, Dayjor Tatum, Timothy Thaxton, Chyna Galloway, and Frankie Galloway.
Known for his integrity, strength, and kindness, George touched the lives of everyone who knew him. He carried himself with humility, offered guidance without judgment, and showed love without hesitation. His presence brought steadiness to his family, and his example continues to inspire those he leaves behind.
George’s legacy is one of service - service to his country, his community, and most importantly, his family. His memory will remain a source of comfort and pride, and his life will be remembered as one lived with purpose, honor, and love.
