Enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1944, earned a Purple Heart on Okinawa in 1945, honorably discharged in 1946

Marriage

Married Joan Marie Germscheid on May 22, 1948, together for 52 years until her passing in December 2000, raised three children

Career

Worked for The Bon Marché for 49 years, retired as Vice-President, Store Manager of the Redmond Furniture Gallery, progressed through the buying offices, appointed Store Manager of the downtown Everett store in 1966, became Store Manager of the Downtown Seattle flagship store in 1972

Residence

Lived in the Seattle area for his entire life, moved from Magnolia to Mercer Island in 1962, moved to Trilogy in Redmond in 2005

Hobbies

Loved to travel, enjoyed golf, belonged to Twin lakes Golf & C.C. and Sahalee, belonged to the Washington Athletic Club, Mercer Island Country Club, and was a Rotarian, enjoyed bridge and spectator sports

Family

Survived by his son Craig and wife Debbi, daughter Lori Egan and husband Tim, daughter Wende Kendig and husband Steve, and four grandchildren

Remembrances
