Geneiva Lee Dawson, known affectionately as Gennie, was born on December 11, 1943, in the New Orleans Metropolitan Area, LA. She peacefully passed away on May 1, 2024, in her home in Kenner, LA.
Gennie had a zest for life and enjoyed various hobbies, including dancing, singing, cooking, going to movies, and watching her favorite TV shows. She had a particular fondness for indulging in delicious dishes such as collard greens, fried catfish, gumbo, and seafood. Music was a passion of Gennie's, and she found joy in listening to bands and artists like Tyrone Davis, Lou Rawls, Isley Brothers, and Teddy Pendergrass.
As a Nursing Assistant, Gennie dedicated her career to caring for others, particularly the elderly. She was proud of her contribution to improving the lives of those she served.
Gennie lived by the motto of treating everyone the way she would like to be treated and believed in always wearing a smile, no matter the circumstances. Her warm and kind-hearted nature touched the lives of many.
On June 16, 1967, Gennie married Kermit Dawson, and together they built a beautiful life. They were blessed with seven children: Debbie Robinson, Jenell Lee Thompson, Lisa R. Myers, Sammie Marie Robinson, Kermit Bert Dawson, Karl Ervin Dawson, and Tyrone Davis Dawson. Gennie cherished her role as a mother and embraced the joys and challenges of raising her children.
Gennie is survived by her sister, Rayann Farria, and leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion. Her faith in the Baptist/Pentecostal tradition provided her with strength and guidance throughout her life.
Geneiva Lee Dawson will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. May she rest in eternal peace, forever remembered for her caring spirit and the love she shared with others.
