Aside from his wife and sons, he won numerous trophies and awards for his 1957 Chevy Bel Air Coupe.
He had a few pets whom he loved, including dogs, C.J. Shy, and Wall-E, and cats, Schmidt E and Min E.
His brothers were Kelly, Clifford, Dallas, and Blanchard Ford.

Gene G.C. Ford, born on October 20, 1945, in Duluth, Georgia, passed away on August 19, 2024, in Snellville, Georgia. He was a devoted family man and a loving father, survived by his sons, Jeffrey Scott Ford (M'Linda) and John Carl Ford (Ashley), as well as his cherished grandchildren, Ciara Noel Ford, Olivia Rose Ford, John Lemons Jr. (Dinora), and Justin Lemons, and his great-grandson, Justin Alcocer.
Gene had a passion for classic cars, particularly his beloved 1957 Chevy Bel Air Coupe, which earned him numerous trophies and awards. He enjoyed fishing, listening to live bands, and indulging in long car rides. His favorite foods included hamburgers and hot dogs topped with ketchup, mustard, and onions, all washed down with an ice-cold, real Coca-Cola.
An avid Atlanta Braves fan, Gene shared this love for baseball with his wife, Syble Jean Ford, who preceded him in death in 2013 after 45 years of marriage. Gene's other interests included watching movies, especially action films like Men in Black, Independence Day, and Ghostbusters, and television shows such as Blue Bloods and The Andy Griffith Show.
Gene worked as an auto mechanic and lineman for General Motors for 30 years, and he also spent time at Stone Mountain Corrections and Juhan Motors. He was a strong man, both in spirit and health, who maintained an active lifestyle even in his later years. Gene loved to swing on the front porch, sipping his favorite drink, and he often offered counsel and encouragement to those who needed it.
He enjoyed traveling, with fond memories of the Eiffel Tower in France and summers spent at Panama City Beach and Orange Beach, where he loved staying on high floors to feel as if he were on a cruise. Music was important to Gene, with a particular fondness for Elvis Presley and any band his son played in.
In his final days, Gene reflected on his life and began to contemplate his faith, expressing his readiness to be with the Good Lord. His kind spirit, love for family, and genuine friendships will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Gene leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
