**Obituary for Gary Michael Mattingly**
**March 12, 1986 — August 2, 2025**
It is with profound sadness that we announce the tragic passing of Gary Michael Mattingly, who was taken from us too soon on August 2, 2025, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Born on March 12, 1986, in Cincinnati, Gary was a beloved son, father, brother, and friend to many. His life was marked by an infectious joy and a radiant smile that brightened even the darkest of days.
Gary was the cherished son of William Mattingly Sr. and Lola Oxendine. He grew up in a close-knit family that included his brothers , Donald Auel, William Mattingly Jr., and his late brother Jace Mattingly. Those who knew Gary understood that family was central to his life, and he took immense pride in being a devoted father to his beloved daughter, Ava Mattingly. The bond between Gary and Ava was a beautiful testament to his unconditional love and commitment to her happiness.
As a young man, Gary pursued his education in welding at trade school, where he honed a skill that would serve him well throughout his life. He found fulfillment in his work as a contractor at All About Tile, where he showcased his craftsmanship and dedication. Gary was not just a worker; he was an artist in his own right, transforming spaces and creating beautiful environments for those he served.
Gary's interests extended beyond his professional life. He was a passionate fan of the Cincinnati Bengals and the Cincinnati Reds, often sharing his enthusiasm for the teams with friends and family. His energetic spirit made every game day an occasion for celebration, where laughter and camaraderie filled the air. Gary lived life fully, always happy and ever optimistic, an attitude that resonated with everyone fortunate enough to cross his path.
Tragically, Gary's life was cut short due to an act of violence that shocked his community and left a void in the hearts of all who loved him. While we grieve his loss, we also celebrate the vibrant life he led. Gary's smile and boundless energy were a gift to the world, and his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those he touched.
A celebration service to honor Gary's life will be held on August 7, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Mt. Echo Park. Family and friends are invited to gather and pay their respects, sharing stories and memories of the remarkable man we were privileged to know.
In these difficult times, we ask that you remember Gary not for the tragedy of his passing, but for the joy he brought into our lives. His spirit will continue to inspire us to cherish our loved ones, embrace life's moments, and carry forth his legacy of love and laughter. Rest in peace, dear Gary; you will be missed but never forgotten.
We want everyone to get together to celebrate the life of Gary at one of his favorite places growing up
