Obituary

Gary James Roberts, born on November 28, 1943, in Bradford, passed away on September 7, 2024, in Stroudsburg, PA. A devoted husband to his wife, Michelle, with whom he celebrated 50 years of marriage this past August, Gary was a beloved father to his daughter, Cherise Ann, who married Scott Decker. Together, they shared a grandson, Logan James Decker, who was the apple of Gary’s eye.

A proud USAF Vietnam veteran, Gary’s career was marked by his service in law enforcement as a Police Officer and later as Chief of Police. He also worked as a Title Insurance Agent and Bail Bondsman. Deeply committed to his community, he served as Councilman for the Borough of Stroudsburg and held leadership positions as President of both the Borough Council and the Rotary Club of the Stroudsburgs. His dedication to service was reflected in his belief in the motto "Service before Self."

Gary was known for his storytelling and sense of humor, always ready with a joke or an engaging tale. He enjoyed golfing, reading, and challenging himself with crossword puzzles. A fan of The Righteous Brothers, he found joy in listening to music and watching his favorite TV shows, including Jeopardy and police dramas.

Gary cherished spending time with his family, especially at his favorite place, Lake Tahoe. He was an avid supporter of the New York Yankees, Minnesota Vikings, San Francisco 49ers, and San Diego Chargers. He is survived by his sister, Bonnie Gordon (Robert), along with many friends and family who will remember his contributions to their lives and the community.

His legacy of kindness, humor, and service will be dearly missed.
