Obituary

Gary Joseph Gula, 52, of Fort Myers, Florida originally from Homestead, PA passed away suddenly on Friday December 13, 2024.

Gary’s joy, hilarious conversations, and contagious laughter touched everyone around him. He was known for his generosity, fun-loving nature, and constantly sporting a big boyish grin that will be profoundly missed.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Margaret (Feeney) Gula. He is survived by his beloved partner, Stephanie J. Short and cherished daughter, Abigail J. Gula.  Gary is also survived by his sisters, Denise (William) Mehok of Munhall, PA and Donna (Joesph) Kosuda, along with his nephews, Jacob and Nicholas, of West Mifflin, PA.

Gary was a graduate of Taylor Allderdice High School, Pittsburgh, PA Class of 1990.  He dedicated over thirty years to his professional sales career at McWane where he excelled due to his authenticity and helpfulness.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Gary was a devoted father, a loving partner, and fantastic friend.  Known for his old soul, he found joy in Frank Sinatra’s music, classic cars, nautical artwork, Pittsburgh sports teams and the Miami Dolphins.  He loved swimming in their pool, eating all the sweet treats, their dogs, family trips, shopping with Abby, and always supporting her endeavors with endless pride.

Gary and Stephanie shared a remarkable bond, filled with laughter, teasing, and countless projects together. Their love for one another was genuine, making them not only perfect partners but best friends.

Gary’s vibrant personality extended to his sense of style often dressing in the brightest colors available. His willingness to help anyone in need, his unmistakable laugh, and his spirited presence will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who loved him.

A celebration of Gary’s life will be held at St. Columbkille Catholic Church 12171 Iona Rd, Fort Myers, FL 33908 on Friday December 20, 2024, at 10:00am.

A celebration of life will also be held in Pittsburgh (date TBD).

In lieu of flowers, to honor Gary’s legacy by supporting Abby’s future, donations may be made to Abigail’s College Education Fund.  Contributions may be directed to her mother: Stephanie J. Short at 1428 Collins Rd Fort Myers, FL 33919

May his light continue to shine in our hearts always.
