Obituary

Garfield Gerald Gasper, known affectionately as Gary, passed away on April 8, 2024, at the age of 60. He was born on August 11, 1963, in Salina, Kansas, and had been residing in Lawrence, Kansas.

Gary was a dedicated baseball coach and his love for the sport was evident in everything he did. He often said, "The greatest feeling in the world is to win a major league game. The second greatest feeling is to lose a major league game." His passion and commitment to his profession earned him the prestigious title of KSHAA Baseball Coach of the Year in 1993, 2004, and 2005.

In addition to his coaching achievements, Gary was a cherished father and grandfather. He is survived by his sons, Jason and Clayton, and daughters, Emily and Amanda. His love and guidance will forever be remembered by his grandsons Shane, Ronan, Conner, Lucas, Tyson, and Brant, as well as his granddaughters Ava and Mya.

Gary's impact extended beyond his family and the baseball world. He had a vibrant and outgoing personality, always making people laugh and feel at ease. His courage and sweet nature made him an awesome human being. Gary was an active member of his motorcycle club and found great joy in being part of the community.

Alongside his coaching and motorcycle club involvement, Gary was a proud Catholic, finding solace in his faith. His leadership, both on and off the baseball field, left a lasting impression on all those who knew him.

Gary is survived by his mother, Sandy, and his brothers, Michael and Donald. His memory will forever be treasured by his loved ones, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.

In honoring Gary's life, we celebrate his accomplishments, his unwavering spirit, and the joy he brought to those around him. He will be greatly missed and always remembered.
