Gail Smith Nelson, born on August 10, 1952, in Lake Wales, Florida, passed away on September 18, 2024, in Woodstock, Alabama. A firecracker in every sense, Gail was a loving, caring, and protective mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend who cherished her family above all else.
Gail is survived by her seven children: Crystal, Penny, April, Ronald, Joshua, Justin, and Amanda, along with twenty-three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, who will fondly remember her for her warm spirit and infectious laughter. She is also survived by her parents, Bessie Mae Smith and Jim B. Smith, her brothers Jake and James Smith, and her sister Geraldine (Deanie) Nelson.
Gail had a vibrant personality that left a lasting impact on those around her. Known for her straightforwardness, friends and family never had to guess what she was thinking. She loved spending time on the porch or in the kitchen, chatting over black coffee and sharing stories, all while enjoying her favorite hobbies, smoking and playing Candy Crush.
