Obituary

Floyd Hagins, born on April 13, 1934, in Wichita, Kansas, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2024, in Emporia, Kansas. A devoted family man, Floyd cherished his late wife, Barbara, with whom he shared a beautiful life and raised a loving family. He was a proud father to his two surviving children, Terry Miller, 66, and Eddie Engle, 64, and a beloved grandfather to six grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Floyd’s kindness, loyalty, and hard-working nature were evident to all who knew him. He had a remarkable ability to brighten any room with a joke or a compliment, always putting family first, as he often said. His love for puzzles and his cherished cat, Stormy, brought him joy in his later years.

A private in the army, Floyd demonstrated dedication and commitment in every aspect of his life. One of his proudest accomplishments was marrying Barbara, a union built on love and support. An endearing story from their early days illustrates this; Floyd pursued Barbara by asking her out every day until she finally said yes, a testament to his determination to care for her and her children from the very beginning.

Floyd touched the lives of everyone around him, providing a safe space for support and encouragement. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love and devotion will live on through his family and friends.
