Fa’afetai Semunda Moana Tilo, affectionately known as Tai, passed away on September 14, 2024, at the age of 56. Born on April 14, 1968, in Apia, Samoa, she lived her most recent years in Roy, Washington. Tai was a beloved police officer whose dedication to her community was matched only by her love for her family.
In 1990, Fa’afetai proudly held the title of Miss Samoa, a testament to her vibrant spirit and cultural heritage. She had a passion for dancing and singing, often filled with joy when indulging in her favorite tunes from Jamoa Jam. Her love for banana bread was well known, and she enjoyed sharing this treat with her loved ones.
Fa’afetai was devoted to her family, which was her greatest pride and joy. She is survived by her husband, Filiga Moana, and their children: Candace, Isaac (and his children, Isaac and Si’iva), Mathew, Sarah (and her children, Lesi and Laura), and Laura (and her children, Susan and Jeremy). Her gentle and compassionate nature, coupled with her humility and spiritual strength, left a lasting impression on everyone around her.
As a Christian, Fa’afetai found solace and community in her church, which she considered her favorite place in the world. Her life was guided by her favorite motto, "Always forgive," embodying the grace she extended to others. Tai will be deeply missed for her caring spirit and the love she shared throughout her life.
