Evelyn King Pine, born on January 20, 1940, in San Antonio, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2024, in her beloved hometown. A devoted military wife, she was married to the late Robert William Pine and was a loving mother to five children: Robert Woolverton (Maria), Betty Storey (Jim), Louise Espinoza (Dave), Cheryl Zeitlin (Michael), and Debbie Kennedy (Vincent). Evelyn took great pride in her role as a grandmother to 15 grandchildren and a great-grandmother to 13, with two more on the way.

Evelyn was known for her exceptional cooking skills, often filling her kitchen with love, laughter, and the delightful aromas of her favorite dishes. She was a true friend to animals, especially cats, and had a passion for reading, crossword puzzles, and playing Yahtzee. In her younger years, she lived in Japan and traveled extensively, visiting places like Germany, France, Canada, and Mexico. Evelyn cherished her frequent trips to California with Bob and made lasting memories during her years living in Lakewood, Washington, from 1978 to 2004, before returning to her roots in San Antonio.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Pine, and her parents, Ira and Audrey Benefield King. She is also survived by her siblings, Martha “Gee Gee” King Gabbard and Ernest King.

A celebration of Evelyn's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to any Alzheimer’s charities in her memory. Evelyn's legacy of love and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
