Eugene Durham, affectionately known as "Newly," passed away on June 2, 2024, at the age of 67. He was born on February 18, 1957, in Raleigh, North Carolina. Eugene spent the later years of his life in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Eugene was a man of many passions. He enjoyed spending time in nature, particularly fishing, and loved watching movies. Nothing brought him greater joy than the company of his loved ones. Eugene's favorite foods included yellowtail fish, sub sandwiches, soup, chicken wings, hotdogs, and pizza. He had an affinity for the music of Earth, Wind, and Fire, and enjoyed watching western movies.
However, Eugene's true love and pride were his grandchildren. He cherished every moment spent with them and always made them feel special. Eugene was a dedicated and caring individual, which was evident in his profession as a chef. He took pleasure in his culinary accomplishments and the joy he brought to others through his cooking skills.
Eugene's life motto was "Pimpin," a phrase that reflected his energetic and confident personality. One of his proudest accomplishments was coaching softball. Many of his players went on to play college softball on scholarships, a testament to his dedication and guidance. Eugene's impact on the lives of others was immeasurable, leaving an indelible mark on those who knew him.
Eugene is survived by his loving daughters Aja Durham, and Jazmin Durham. Sons Jacob Durham, Damone Boyd, and his cherished grandsons, annd Granddaughters Amir, Akil, Alec, and Asad Durham. Rowlan, Mackenzie, Domine’k. Son-in-law, Lee Murphy, was also an important part of his life. He is dearly missed by his father Eugene Durham Sr, and proceeded in death by his mother Jessie Durham, and his sister Crystal Durham. Also he leaves behind his brother Anthony Durham, and sisters Gladys Green, and Vanessa Watson. He was proceeded in death but his wife Lauren Murphy.
Eugene's faith played an essential role in his life, as he was a proud member of the Baptist community.
Eugene Durham will be remembered for his zest for life, his love for his family, and his dedication to coaching. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
