Obituary

Ernie Lacoy, a dedicated painter known throughout New England, passed away on June 11, 2024, at the age of 67. Born on September 18, 1956, in Lowell, MA, Ernie was a beloved member of the community.

Ernie's work ethic was truly remarkable, starting at the young age of 18 and continuing throughout his life. His career as a painter allowed him to showcase his incredible talent and passion. He took great pride in his profession and left a lasting impact on the artistic landscape of New England.

However, Ernie's true source of pride and joy came from his family. He was married to Maude Elizabeth Lacoy, and together they shared a beautiful journey. Their love and commitment were evident to all who knew them.

Ernie was a loving father to his son Dakota Lacoy of Lowell, his oldest daughter Starr Bicho and her wife Jessica Bicho of Plymouth, and his youngest daughter Cheyenne Lacoy of Lowell. He adored his grandchildren, Zoey and Mateo Bicho, who brought immense happiness to his life.

Ernie is survived by his siblings: Diane "DeeDee" Lacoy, Richard "Dicky" Lacoy, Sheila Swindells, David Lacoy, Daniel Lacoy, Roger Lacoy and his husband Victor Martinez, Esther Lawson and her husband R.J., and Louie Stamas. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law Samantha Dolson and brother-in-law Joe Hebert, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. His beloved fur babies, boxers Buster, Teva, and Fauxn, as well as his cat Mack, brought him endless companionship and joy.

Ernie will be remembered for his remarkable personality. He had an infectious sense of humor and was known for changing the lyrics to songs as he sang along in the car. Fishing, Cadillacs, cars, and New England sports teams were some of his passions. He had a special way of connecting with people and made everyone feel welcome. Ernie cherished his trips to Orange Lake in Florida and loved spending time in his garden. His love for tattoos was evident, and each one told a meaningful story.

Ernie will be forever missed, not only for his artistic talent but also for his kindness and willingness to help others. He impacted the lives of many through his generosity and genuine presence.

Relatives and friends are invited to Ernest's Life Celebration on Friday, June 14, 2024, from 4 until 7 PM at the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, located at 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell. Burial will be held privately. For condolences and directions, please visit www.mckennaouellette.com.
