Ernie was old school and R&B music was his favorite genre.
Ernie was very fashionable whenever he goes out to events. He will be in designer clothes from head to toe. He would frequently receive compliments on his attire, which put a smile on his face..
He was laid-back and spoke softly when he was engaged in conversations. He enjoyed watching football and other sporting activities.
Ernie loved to watch the old cowboy movies and he was able to name most of the characters in the shows.
Ernest A. Mitchell, known affectionately as Ernie, was born on March 13, 1940, in Philadelphia, PA. He passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Ernie dedicated 25 years of his life to the post office, where he was known for his reliable work ethic and friendly demeanor. After his retirement, he enjoyed spending his time engaging with his passions, particularly watching football and other sports, which he followed with great enthusiasm.
A man of great style, Ernie took pride in his appearance and was often seen in designer clothes, earning compliments that brought a smile to his face. His love for R&B music showcased his old-school charm, while his fondness for old cowboy movies revealed a playful side, as he could name most of the characters.
He relished the simple pleasures in life, particularly enjoying homemade potato salad and barbecue ribs prepared by his beloved wife, Julia, as well as indulging in his favorite dessert: donuts.
Ernie is survived by his devoted wife of over 20 years, Julia Mitchell, and their sons, Gary and Darren Mitchell, along with daughter Kristi Mitchell and stepsons Gary, Townsend, and Tyree Singleton. He was predeceased by his son, Ernest Dawkins, and his parents, Lillian Thomas and Ernest Mitchell.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, remembered for his gentle spirit and the joy he brought to those around him.
