Eric Sidney Mitchell, Sr.

Eric Sidney Mitchell, Sr., known lovingly as Sid, passed away on March 17, 2024, at the age of 72. He was born on March 30, 1951, in New Orleans, LA, and most recently resided in Kenner, LA.
Eric had a successful career as an HVAC specialist, dedicating over 25 years to the industry. He was highly skilled and respected in his field.
In his free time, Eric enjoyed indulging in his favorite meal, a juicy Salisbury steak accompanied by a refreshing Diet Coke. He also delighted in watching martial arts movies, westerns, and crime stories on television.
Eric was married to his beloved wife, Raquel Mitchell, and together they built a life filled with love and shared experiences. They cherished their time together and created lasting memories.
Family was of utmost importance to Eric. He was a proud father to his four children: Eric S. Mitchell, Jr. (whom preceded him in death, 2018), Carlos M. Mitchell (Rachael née Block), Mark A. Mitchell (Melissa née Chatelain), and Noah Miers (Sara Penner-Miers). Eric was also a grandfather to six grandchildren: Gavin Carlos Mitchell, Matthew Giovanni Mitchell, and Madelynn Maria Mitchell, Autumn, Noah Jr ("Ty"), and Evelyn Miers. Eric's life was also enriched with love from his step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; Corrin Nicole Demoutlette (Stellan and Isla - children), Kymbi Met, Travis Huizar, Jr., and Isabella "Izzy" Huizar.
Eric is survived by his brother Marty Mitchell and his sisters Sonjia Mitchell, Sandy Mitchell, Patricia Gauthier, and Elizabeth Gauthier. He was preceded in death by his parents Sam and Elizabeth, his sister Sherry Mitchell, and brothers Michael Gauthier, Anthony Mitchell, and Salvador Mitchell.
Eric Sidney Mitchell, Sr. will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. His legacy as a skilled professional, a loving husband, father, and grandfather will be cherished forever. May he rest in eternal peace.

Visitation Service
A funeral service to honor and celebrate the life of Eric Sidney Mitchell, Sr. will be held on March 27th at Saint Charles Borromeo Church in Picayune, Mississippi (1000 Goodyear Blvd, Picayune, MS 39466 ) Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM, offering an opportunity for friends and family to pay their respects and offer condolences to the Mitchell family. Following the visitation, a Mass will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, where we will gather to celebrate Eric, reflect on his life and find solace in our shared memories.
