Obituary
It is with deep and profound sympathy that we announce the transition of Ms. Eloise R. Matthews Sturgis who entered into rest February 15, 2024.
Ms. Sturgis was a 1955 graduate of Lucy C. Laney High School and a 1957 graduate of Luvenia's School of Cosmetology. She was a member of Hammond Grove Word Power Ministry.
Survivors include a daughter, Andrea (Ricky) Chishom; a son, Alvin Sturgis; a sister, Dealia Gwaltney; a brother, Henry (Denise) Mathis; sister-in-law, Helen Mathis; three grandchildren, Ricky Chishom, Jr., Shalonda Sturgis and Alvin Sturgis, Jr., five great grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends. We also would like to give special thanks to her main caregiver Jerquetta as she was a very dedicated granddaughter.
