Ella Grace Washington was born on February 15, 1940 in Piedmont, TX to the marriage of Giles Davis and Mary Lee Davis. She was one of twelve children. Siblings include Estella (stell), Opal (Nig), Ralph, Queenise, L.T., Isiah, and Milton who preceded her in passing, and Roger, Robert Lee (Bob), Johnnie Faye, and Lucille who remain among us. She graduated from Valley View High School in 1958 where she was an outstanding basketball player.

Ellla was enriched in the church at a very young age, and she would be baptized at Mt. Olive Baptist Church. As she got older, she found new church homes with Grace and Truth Missionary Baptist Church in Dallas, TX and Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Gilmer, TX.

Ella Grace Washington was married to George T. Washington on December 5, 1959, and they lived together happily in Dallas, TX until George's passing in 1969.

Ella had four children. Gable Green preceded her in death. Cynthia Washington, Sheryl Washington, and Preston Washington remain as figureheads of the family. She also had 10 grandchildren (Corey Smallwood, Chauncey Washington, Jarvis Washington, Demarcus Green, DeAmbra Green, Nekia Washington, Myrika Flemming, Devonee Robinson, Cameron Flemming, and Devontre Washington) and many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and loved ones.
