Bargain shopping, crafting, making keychains and bracelets, she always has been creative and artistic, doing puzzles and crosswords, listening to music. She was very proud of her Native American heritage.

She was a great mother of six children, and an even better grandmother to seven grandchildren. She had Native Pride, and was a proud member of the Grand Traverse Band.
Spending time with her children and grandchildren, and watching her children become parents.

Elizabeth was a beautiful, amazing and strong Native women. She always had a beautiful smile, and great humor. Eleven years ago she had a stroke, and battled Type II diabetes. If you knew Liz, you most likely loved her. She had such a big, good and caring heart! ♡

She always had either a native shirt, or a shirt with a funny, sarcastic saying on it.
Elizabeth loved "The Fourth of July", She drew amazing roses🌹, and the Disney dog, Pluto. She would always spoil her grandkids for Christmas.

She spent the day before her passing vending, selling keychains, bracelets, and necklaces that she made, at the Powwow. She smiled so much that day, and was beyond happy, spending the day with family, kids, and grandkids. It was a beautiful day. ♡
Elizabeth E. DeVerney, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away on July 8, 2024, at the age of 55. She was born on February 20, 1969, in Fort Hood, Texas, but spent much of her childhood in Leslie, Michigan. Elizabeth was the daughter of Angus Arthur DeVerney and Mary Ann DeVerney.
Elizabeth was a woman of many talents and passions. She had a creative and artistic soul, enjoying bargain shopping and crafting. Her love for making keychains and bracelets brought her joy, and she often shared her beautiful creations with others. She also loved solving puzzles and crosswords while listening to "Country Gold Saturday Night", and her favorite musical artists such as, Waylon Jennings, Hank Williams Jr., and Elvis.
A proud member of the Grand Traverse Band, She embraced her Native Pride and celebrated her culture. Elizabeth was a devoted mother to her six children: Scott Hatch Jr., Amanda Thiebaut, Aiyanna Cormendy, Jeffrey DeVerney, Elizabeth Shimel, and the late William Shimel II. She loved nothing more than spending time with her children and grandchildren, who held a special place in her heart. Her grandchildren, Caydynce Hatch, Aiden DeVerney, Dianna Thiebaut, Isabelle Hatch, Grayson Hatch, Moncho Cormendy II, and Danny Thiebaut Jr., brought immense joy and happiness to her life.
Elizabeth had a beautiful smile, great humor, and a caring heart that touched the lives of those around her. Despite facing health challenges, including a stroke and Type II diabetes, she remained beautiful, strong and resilient. Elizabeth faced life with courage and a positive outlook, always wearing her Native shirts or shirts with funny sayings on them. She loved the movie "Fiddler on The Roof" and was known for her amazing drawings of roses and the Disney dog, Pluto. Elizabeth's love for her family was evident as she spoiled her grandchildren during Christmas. And always told her children, "I Love You, more," "Love, Jo Mama."
On the day before her passing, Elizabeth spent the day vending at the Powwow, selling the keychains, bracelets, and necklaces she had made. It was a day filled with smiles, love, happiness, and cherished moments with her family, children, and grandchildren.
Elizabeth leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She is survived by her father, Angus DeVerney, her siblings, John, Mathew, and William DeVerney, and Catherine DeVerney, her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary DeVerney, her brother Art (Arthur) DeVerney Jr., her sister, Melissa Wessel, and her son, William Shimel II.
Elizabeth E. DeVerney will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her kind spirit, warm smile, humor, and generous heart will forever be remembered. May she rest in peace.
