Obituary

Elizabeth Copher Melton 78, of St.Louis Missouri , passed away unexpectedly, but quietly, in her sleep on the morning of September 15, 2022, in her home, surrounded by family.

Elizabeth was born on January 10, 1943, in St.Louis, Missouri, to Joseph A. Copher and Beatrice R. Copher. Elizabeth attended primary school at St. Theresa’s Catholic School in Hazelwood, and graduated from Belmont High School in 1960.

Elizabeth, who lovingly referred to herself as a “Hot Momma”, lived in the City of St. Louis for the majority of her life, moving to East. St. Louis from Covina at the age of 19. She worked at Ralph’s (previously Alpha Beta) for the entirety of her career, where she became an important and reliable fixture in her community; loved by her many customers and colleagues throughout the years.

Elizabeth and her husband Patrick were married in 1978, and remained so for the rest of her life. Elizabeth and Patrick both brought a daughter each and continued building their family together - adding six more children; 3 daughters and 3 sons.

Elizabeth was known to be the life of every party. She loved nature, long walks, bowling, and dancing to Blues music. Elizabeth also had a green thumb and loved working in her garden daily. She went walking with family as much as possible, as well as rode her bike most days. Elizabeth enjoyed her retirement to the fullest and used her time productively to focus on her many hobbies and Grandchildren. Elizabeth also owned one of the most impressive heavy metal vinyl album collections, which could often be heard playing from her home (loudly).

Elizabeth was preceded in death by both of her parents , 3 sons and is survived by her husband and 5 daughters A “Celebration of Life & Memorial Service” will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 from 12-6 p.m., in the Alice Marble Hall in Spanish Lakes, Missouri. Family and friends are invited to come and share fond memories and stories. The family encourages attendees to wear Elizabeth favorite colors to the funeral white and red to the service.
