Obituary for Elaine Carol Sneed

Elaine Carol Sneed, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2025, at the age of 72. Born on February 26, 1952, in Oakland, California, Elaine was the daughter of Rena Henyard and Willie Sneed. She grew up with a quiet spirit, which she carried with her throughout her life.

After graduating from McClymonds High School, Elaine pursued a Job at the United States Post Office. 

Elaine married James L McGhee  in 1970. She welcomed two wonderful children, Linette and Terrell, who became the lights of her life. Elaine’s nurturing spirit made her not just a mother, but a confidante and friend. She found endless joy in being a grandmother to her Six  grandchildren..

Elaine is survived by her father Willie Sneed Sr. and by her loving children, Linette McGhee and Terrell Turner, her cherished grandchildren,Tatiana, Leandra, and Almon, Efon, Mariam, and Bailey, her dear brother and sisters, Willie Sneed, Eleanor Malden, Aladrienne Sneed, Leshawanne Williams, and a host of  nieces, nephews, friends and relatives who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband, James, and her Mother.

A celebration of Elaine’s life will be held on Monday, February, 10, 2025, at 1:00 PM at th C.P Bannon Mortuary,6800 International Blvd Oakland, CA. 

Elaine Carol Sneed’s loving spirit will continue to inspire all whom she touched, reminding us to embrace life. She will be profoundly missed, but her spirit  remains intertwined with ours forever.
