Earnest joined the Greater St John Bible Church under Pastor Ira J. Acree, at the age of 76, where he was baptized.

Earnest was a huge fan of some Chicago teams, Cubs, Bulls, and Bears. One of his favorite hobbies was bowling.

Earnest married Pauline Horton and to this union, 4 Kids were born, Latonia, Katina, Eric, and Derrick.

Earnest departed this life on September 13, 2026, at West Suburban Hospital. His mother Willie B. Haymer, and 4 siblings, Hercules, Joe, Jack, and Linda, all preceded him in death.
