Dwayne Ellis Wright, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away on July 10, 2024, at the age of 62 in San Antonio, TX. He was born on February 4, 1962, in Muskogee, OK.
Dwayne had a zest for life and enjoyed various hobbies. He loved working on cars and motorcycles, showcasing his mechanical skills. Spending time with his family and friends brought him immense joy. Dwayne was always ready to lend a helping hand and cherished the moments he spent with his loved ones.
When it came to food, Dwayne had a taste for the unique. He relished sauerkraut and sausage, pickled pigs feet, sardines, and the combination of pineapples and cottage cheese. His eclectic taste extended to music, where he found solace in the sounds of Pink Floyd, AC/DC, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Guns N Roses, Foreigner, Eagles, Led Zeppelin, and most recently Jelly Roll.
Dwayne's life was filled with interesting experiences. He was a former wrestler in high school and served in the Army during the 80s. In a testament to his resilience, he overcame a serious accident at the age of 18, enduring reconstructive surgery and a year of blindness after a semi-truck tire exploded in his face.
Among his many loves, Dwayne's cherished dog Max held a special place in his heart. He found great peace in the beauty of the Grand Canyon in Arizona, a place that captivated his spirit. Dwayne also enjoyed watching Star Trek and anything related to science fiction, and he had a particular fondness for wrestling and Nascar racing.
Known by his nicknames Ellis, Elbow, and Stink, Dwayne shared 35 wonderful years of marriage with his wife, Pamela Kay Wright. Together, they created a beautiful family. Dwayne leaves behind his daughter Melinda Eavenson, son-in-law Javier Martinez Jr, and eight grandchildren: Danielle Navarro, Thomas Eavenson, Andrew Cardenas (granddaughter-in-law Miranda Castro), Javier Martinez III, Nayeli Martinez, Jazelle Martinez, and Gaven Cardenas. Additionally, he had one great-grandson, Jrue Cardenas. He is also survived by his sister Louann Thomas and brother Kenny Wright.
Dwayne was a funny, outgoing, and positive person. His jokes never failed to bring laughter to those around him. He possessed a generous spirit and would do anything to help others. Dwayne's good heart touched the lives of many, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Viewing for family and friends starts at 9AM. Services are at 12:30 with Burial to follow at Fort Sam Houston at 2:00
