Donald Richard Hayes Jr., beloved son, brother, father, and grandfather, passed away on August 5, 2024, at the age of 47. He was born on January 24, 1977, in Olney, IL to Margaret R Hayes & Donald R Hayes Sr.
Donald, also known as Donnie to his loved ones, was a man of many passions. He had a deep love for sports, especially baseball and football. He was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and enjoyed collecting sports memorabilia. When he wasn't watching a game, Donald could often be found working diligently or participating in a spirited game of bingo.
Throughout his life, Donald achieved many milestones in his career. He worked as a finance manager for various car dealerships, showcasing his expertise and dedication. Later, he became a regional traveling manager for AT&T, leaving a lasting impact on the company. He loved coaching & giving kids with less of an opportunity the moment to shine. He loved his service dog Charlie and he loved traveling to new places and he never met a stranger.
One of Donald's defining traits was his playful and mischievous nature. He was known as a prankster and jokester, always finding ways to bring laughter to those around him. His hardworking spirit and positive attitude left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.
In addition to his professional achievements, Donald treasured his role as a grandfather. He leaves behind a legacy including 5 children. Alexandrea Robison (Jimmy) , Morgan Mofield (Robert) , Emily Venus, Mikayla Rheinecker (Michael Lynd) & Andrew Stricklin. He took pride in everything his children accomplished.
Donald is survived by his wife Deborah Hayes. Loving mother, Margaret Hayes, and his sisters, Dottie Nikolich (John) and Dana Simpkins (Jon). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Briella, Elliannah, Amaya, Mia, Elaine, Thelma & Many Aunts, Uncles, Neices and Nephews. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. His memory will forever be cherished.
A volunteer firefighter and a devout Southern Baptist, Donald touched the lives of many through his involvement in the community. He lived by the motto, "It is what it is," embracing life with acceptance and resilience.
