Donald's favorite hobbies

My fathers favorite hobbies were being the glue of our family who always made time for family and putting his loved ones around his table while showing off his cooking skills every Sunday as he brought us together. But nothing in this world him smile like his family especially his grandchildren Anthony, Jack, Dublin, Zoey and Madilyn. Anytime spent with his grand kids made it the perfect day. And if he wasn't busy with those grandkids he'd be making sure his children Donnie Jr and Alicia were loved and cared for always taking burdens off their backs to ease life. There's two more things that made his heart full and those were all his beloved pets who he always kept by his side.. and last but of not least was the love of his life his special beautiful wife Marion. These two were the perfect example of true love, for better or for worse and in sickness and in health. Their vows stood as strong as them and he cherished every moment he had on this earth with her never leaving her side.

Donald's favorite foods

Favorite foods consisted of any meal that would have the company of family and friends. He absolutely loved to cook, growing up after work he'd still come home and make us all our own special requested meals with a smile on his face. He tuely loved to see people enjoy his food, even more so when he was surrounded by his loving family.

Favorite bands and musical artists

Interesting facts about Donald

Interesting facts when it came to my father was his ability to adapt to push his family forward. No matter what cards came our way my father always proved to find a way. Blessed to have had such a man for his grandkids to look up too.

Donald loved nothing more than

Than any time spent with his family, a day never passed no matter how he felt that he didn't make the time for them to ensure they had what they needed and that was sure to come with a smile and jokes. My father had a sense of humor that a miss daily. He was quick witted and always had something funny or smart to respond with.

Favorite place in the world

Favorite place in his world was either wrapped around my mother Marion, his beloved pets and any moment he could spend with his kids and grandkids. Nothing stopped him even in his ending days to want to spend his precious time with them.

Favorite TV shows

Mom and Dad at the end of every night would be cuddled up next to the fire enjoying shows and each other's company. This was a favorite wind down part of his day.

Favorite sports

He always kept up to date on sports something my brother, his son Donnie Jr loved to conversate about around the dinner table. Always looked forward to sitting down with his son in law Anthony every year to enjoy Jr hockey games season.

Donald's parents

Millard and Virginia Smith from Liverpool Queens County, Nova Scotia.

Donald's siblings

Michael (Michelle) Herman, Joseph (Mary) Smith, both of Halifax, Patricia (David) MacLeod, of Kentville, Anna (James) Boudreau, of Liverpool. My father was the youngest of the siblings and would always look forward to any family gathering with them. Always with lots of laughs around the poker table and amazing chowder on the stove brought tons of amazing Christmas family time well spent. I can only imagine the laughter in the room if given the opportunity to all be together once again. In their names let us honor them all with continued laughter of memories shared. To all of our family gone too soon.

Donald's children

Donnie Smith Jr (Holly) of Bedford, Alicia Smith (Anthony) of Dartmouth

Donald's grandchildren

Anthony, Jack, Dublin, Zoey and Madilyn.

Donald's superpower

My father's super power was to take the weight of the world off his family's shoulders and carry it himself. A skill he had his whole life. He was the definition of selfless, he'd give the shirt off his back and the shoes off his feet to you. He would settle with less to push his children forward with more. He kept the wolves away and protected his family to the fullest.
